Friendship Bracelets Making

Well if you are wondering how to make a super quality friendship bracelet for that one special friend that has always been by your side, this is the article you are going to want to read. I have been making bracelets of regular embroidery string for years. There are many books and instruction guides for making the simplest kinds of bracelets. There are so many bracelet designs, it’s hard to find which one you want to learn or know where to begin. I have inserted a video to this article for those of you who are visual learners.

Lets get started. Start with about three pieces of different colored string. Line them up evenly and cut them about two feet long. Let us say that you, have a red, yellow, and blue string. This way it is easier to tell them apart. This pattern is the basis of all of the friendship bracelets.

1. Tie a knot at the top of the three strings, leaving about an inch and a half to use as the end to tie a knot with. So you should have three pieces of string tied together.

2. Now take whatever colored string you want to use first in the bracelet. Let’s say that it is the red string and make a large loop on top of the other two strings. It should look like a backwards D or P over the other two strings.

3. Take the end of the red string, fold the end underneath the yellow and blue strings and up into the backwards D or P. It should be the red string in a loop around the other strings.

4. Now pull it tight against the top knot. You will need a clasp of some sort in order to keep the top of the bracelet in place while you pull the knots into place.

5. Once you have that first small knot at the top, repeat steps two through four according to the diagram.

You need to tie about twenty knots in order to get a good bar of red along your bracelet. Now remember this; if you have twenty knots in a bar of red, you need to have twenty knots of yellow in the yellow bar to make the even length of the red bar on the bracelet; the same with the blue.

When you start having more and more knots of a certain bar’s color, the knots will make the string start to twist and it will look like a wrap going around the bracelet, don’t worry, that’s supposed to happen.

Your bracelet will be bars of red, yellow, and blue all the way down. In order to measure how long you should make it, in order to fit your wrist, or your ankle if you want, just wrap the bracelet around your wrist or ankle to measure how many more bars of the colors you need in order to finish the right length of the bracelet. Tie a knot at the end of the last bar of red, yellow, or blue, just like you did at the top. You should have about an inch and a half to two inches left. Tie the two ends together and there you go.
